Jockey's Ridge, NC
Jockey's Ridge is the largest sand dune on the east coast of the US. There are areas there that you can get a perspective as if you are in a desert, yet it is about a half mile from the ocean, if not closer.

Bodie Island Lighthouse
Outer Banks, NC. Bodie (pronounced 'body') Island is no longer an island due to shifting sands over time, but still a beautiful area.

Wild Horses
Corolla, NC. If you ever get the chance, rent some Jeeps and go enjoy the scenery. The horses are beautiful, and riding along the beach with the top down is a blast!
